RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) is a common virus that affects the lungs and breathing passages.
It can cause cold like symptoms, but in some people – especially older adults, pregnant women, babies, or those with chronic health conditions- it can lead to serious illness such as:
- Bronchiolitis
- Pneumonia
- Hospitalisation due to breathing difficulties
The RSV Vaccine
A vaccine is now available in England to help protect against RSV infection and reduce the risk of serious illness.
NHS Eligibility
The RSV Vaccine is free on the NHS for:
- Adults ages 75 and over
- Pregnant women (from 28weeks onwards)
If you do not fall in to these groups, you can still access the vaccine privately.
Why consider the RSV vaccine?
Helps protect against severe lung infections caused by RSV.
Reduces the risk of hospitalisation and complications.
